Lake Khuvsgul, located in the northwest of Mongolia near the Russian border within Khovsgol Province, is the largest freshwater lake in the country by volume and the second largest by surface area, covering approximately 2,760 square kilometers.
Situated at an elevation of 1,645 meters (5,397 feet) above sea level, it is a deep, ancient lake, estimated to be between 2 and 5 million years old, and is one of the world’s 17 ancient lakes, renowned for its pristine, ultraoligotrophic waters with exceptional clarity—up to 24.5 meters in transparency—making the water safe to drink without treatment.

TSAGAAN SUVARGA
Commonly known as the White Stupa, is a striking natural geological formation located in the Ulziit soum of Dundgovi Province in southern Mongolia, within the Gobi Desert
We pass through Dalanzadgad city, the capital of Umnugovi province and often called the capital of the Gobi. This city has grown rapidly in recent years, as the nearby Oyu Tolgoi mine, one of the world’s largest gold and copper deposits operated by Rio Tinto, has attracted many people to settle and work in the region.
Arrival at Tsagaan Suvarga cliffs in the afternoon, where we take time to explore the striking white formations sculpted by wind and time. We enjoy panoramic views and take in the remarkable colors of this natural wonder, especially breathtaking at sunset.
